Among the devices that will be updated, there is also the Huawei P9 Lite, the flagship device of Huawei that offers excellent price/performance ratio. The firmware for this device is still in beta stage. It is based on first firmware Android Nougat for the models VNS-L31 and VNS-L23.

Here’s the full tutorial for installation, taking into account that there are two versions of the update with their bugs. In the B328 version, the currently known issues are –

  • Mobile data network does not work after locking the screen (requires restart)
  • Private Space app does not work

In the B329 version, known issues are minor. Everything works properly except the camera. Newer firmware will definitely come soon with many fixes for the problems present in these two versions. So if you are eager and want to jump the gun if you want to try absolutely Android Nougat on P9 Lite here’s how:

  • Unroot your device
  • Reboot into Recovery Mode (TWRP)
  • Flash the file (B328: Download here, B329: Download here)
  • You will see an error message, it is quiet normal.
  • Do not reboot and flash the following files depending on your device model number (VNS-L31: Download here, VNS-L23: Download here)
  • Restart the device

There, after the restart, the device will be equipped with Android 7.0 Nougat and you can enjoy all the features offered by the new operating system.

Remember that performing this tutorial could brick your phone and may also void the warranty. It is best to make these changes if you are familiar with the Android operating system and the root procedures in general. It is always best, before proceeding with any 3rd-party software, to make a backup for preventing the accidental loss of personal data.
